Fabio Cannavaro Leaves Tianjin Quanjian
Fabio Cannavaro, who led Tianjin Quanjian to the Chinese Super League and helped them secure a spot in the 2018 AFC Champions League in their first top flight season, has announced he is leaving the northern China club. On debut they finished in an outstanding third position, close behind champions Evergrande and big spenders Shanghai SIPG. The decision for his leave was made under mutual agreement. Tianjin Quanjian stated the following: “”We sincerely thank Mr Cannavaro and his team for their contribution and bright future in his career and life.”
Tianjin Quanjian immediately introduced the replacement as former Portugal international Paulo Sousa, who left Serie A club Fiorentina this summer, and will take up the post at the start of the 2018 pre-season. Cannavaro is said to be high on Guangzhou Evergrande’s list of potential replacements for outgoing Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari, according to mainland media reports. The Italian left Evergrande in 2015.
