Luis Scolari leaves Guangzhou Evergrande
Coach Luis Scolari leaves Guangzhou Evergrande after leading them for 2 years. His current contract is expiring in November but the Brazilian coach has made clear he wishes not to extend his contract in order to find a new challenge.
The Brazilian coach in the past led Chelsea and the Brazilian and Portuguese national team to name a few. On 4 June 2015 Scolari was appointed as head coach of Guangzhou Evergrande. 4 months after his appointment, the Brazilian coach already managed to win the AFC Champions League. Scolari won a total of 7 titles with Guangzhou Evergrande, including 3 times the Chinese Super League. He was also was named coach of the year by the Chinese Football Association twice. His most recent achievement is winning the Chinese Super League title of the current 2017 season.
After Scolari’s contract will expire in November, he has announced that he will return to Brazil. As for his new challenge, the Brazilian coach hopes he could manage a national team for the World Cup in Russia next year.
